It is an odd thing when your state makes national news for being targeted with a missle by a crazy country. But you know, please still come to Hawaii because it's no big deal.

My aunt, my father's sister passed away yesterday. My family and I went to visit her two weeks ago. Saying goodbye to her that last time was tough because I think we all knew it was the last time. But I know she was in constant pain from the cancer and I know that now she is in a better place now. There's so many memories that have been coming to me these last few months but I haven't found a way to put them into words. I hope I will be able to soon. I miss her already.

I know, surprise surprise, it's a post from me. But I did tell people I was going to let people know what was up with me. So here's a quick recap of the past weekend.

Some of you may or may not know that the last couple of months, I've had two major stressors in my life. My job has been making me miserable and my grandfather has not been doing so well.

Regarding stressor number one, I decided to bite the bullet and started the process of updating my resume. Luckily, one of the people I contacted for a recommendation pointed me in the direction of a great job opportunity and long story short, I got offered the job last Thursday. I decided to take the job and gave my resignation on Friday. Barring some weird result on the drug test, I should be in a new job by next February.

Which brings me to my grandfather. He's never quite been happy since my grandmother passed away several years ago. Sometime this year, he had to move into a care home because he just couldn't live on his own anymore. It was an adjustment for him, but he seemed all right for a while. Then a couple of months ago he got pneumonia and he went downhill pretty quickly. After Thanksgiving, he started refusing to eat. Late Sunday night he passed away in his sleep. I think my grandparents are together again.

Needless to say this has been a weird, emotional weekend.

Anyways, after days and days of battling with my internet, I've managed to steal a few minutes on my sister's computer to post this. If anyone was wondering, I'm still alive though offline per the reason above.

First day of my birthday holiday and it's already not been totally spectacular. Got a phone call that my grandpa got taken to the ER and last we've heard he's still getting a bunch of tests. Guess my days off are going to include trips to the hospital.

I'll try battling with Mr. Internet later but I probably won't be able to catch up online for a bit. It's not that I'm purposefully ignoring anyone. Hope everyone is doing okay as I don't even have time to really check on LJ to see how it's all shaking. Just wanted to let everyone know I haven't dropped off the face of the planet.

At least I think it's your birthday where you are. Hope you have a fantabulous day!

So yes, I have not done a proper update in ages. And really this isn't going to be it either. But I wanted to thank skydiver119 properly for making me a new wallpaper. Thanks D!

Oh, the loveliness of SG-1 in all it's incarnations. I'm finding I really want the SG-1 Season 10 dvds to come out now. I feel like rewatching my new team. I miss them on Fridays.

In other news, I went to see both the Harry Potter and Transformers movies yesterday. Yes, I am a geek. But there was sushi in between so good day was had by all. Not going to spoil but all I can say was one was very British and the other was very American. Heh. You guess which.

Finally, My not-quite-two year old niece has fallen in love with all things Hello Kitty. So now I find myself gravitating to these things in stores. It's all very pink. It's all very frilly. I suspect alien pods may be involved in this franchise. But I buy this stuff anyways cause I love seeing her smile. Very scary.
